2021 Donations That Made A Difference

Every year, Renee's Garden donates seeds to a wide variety of organizations and educational programs worldwide that strive to improve social, economic and health conditions, and promote sustainable organic gardening. We also encourage retailers to donate unsold Renee's Garden seeds to local nonprofit organizations at the end of the season. We are pleased to share just a few successful outcomes.

students starting seeds

Virginia Cooperative Extension
York County, VA

"Every year, Renee's Garden supports our programs with seed donations. We share your gift with organizations such as the Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads and the Boy Scouts of America as we work together on projects to pursue common goals. This year, we built garden starter kits that we passed out to participants in these classes to help them start their own gardens."

"Thank you for helping our local San Martin Gwinn K-8 school participate in your seed donation program this year. We planted and grew many varieties and took lots of beneficial insect and harvest pictures. Our Kiddos particularly enjoyed making art integrating Renee's Garden flowers. It has been a great experience for everyone."

"Francis Land House maintains an extensive period vegetable garden on the beautifully maintained grounds which are always a very popular school field trip site. Our knowledgeable docents expose our young audiences to the time-honored skills which kept the Land family in food and clothing, educating children on the practical uses of the wealth of natural resources that flourished in the location they now call home."

people buying seedlings at outdoor market

Charles Street Gardens
Sunnyvale, CA

"We are a fully volunteer run organization, and our main fundraising is via Spring and Fall plant sales where we offer seedlings to eager gardeners in our local Bay Area community. We were so grateful to be able to hold a plant sale again and thrilled to see our community support us! People lined up outside all the way into the parking lot waiting for their turn to enter the seedling sale. It was wonderful to connect with our community again!"

little girl smelling flowers in garden

Health, Wellness and Environmental Studies Elementary School (HWES) Jonesboro, AR

"Located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, this special Health, Wellness and Environmental Studies Magnet school has 70% of its students coming from rural, low-income families. Program director Melinda Smith and her colleagues have transformed three neglected school courtyards into a hands-on demonstration garden and successfully integrated gardening, nutrition and cooking into the curriculum. This engaged fifth-grader is going on a “scent hunt” to find and describe different smells in the garden, which she and her classmates planted and learned from last year."
