The only solution is planting into a tough, long-lasting, effective barrier basket. Diggers’ well-made gopher baskets are our solution and we have been using them for several decades. With snap open steel frames and baskets of gopher-proof, double galvanized, 20-gauge ¾ inch hexagonal wire mesh, they withstand years of being buried in the soil.
Creating a physical barrier with these baskets is the best solution to protect the root balls of your plants. We couldn’t garden without them. Dig a hole, open and insert the basket, add soil and plant right into the cage. There you go – no more gopher worries!
