Mara Des Bois Ever-Bearing

The Fragrant Jewel of France. Released in 1991 from a French development program, ‘Mara Des Bois’ is a hybrid of cultivated French varieties and wild woodland berries. It is world-renowned for its heavenly floral flavor and intense perfume, reminiscent of the highly prized wild strawberries found in French forests. These scrumptious, deep red, glossy berries are slightly conical in shape with tender flesh and a high sugar content balanced by moderate acidity.

Once established, these vigorous plants are strong fruit bearers all season long. Their compact habit makes them an ideal choice for garden beds, containers, and hanging baskets. ‘Mara Des Bois’ is reliably cold-hardy down to USDA Zone 4 if well mulched, and with the addition of shade cloth, these resilient plants will happily tolerate summer heat in the low 90°F range.
