Susan’s love of the outdoors started early while
exploring the coastal hills near her home across the bay from San Francisco.
As a mom, she enjoyed teaching her children appreciation for the natural world, maintaining a large vegetable garden where her son and daughter
learned the connection between the garden and the table.
Susan returned to school in the late 80’s, studying Cultural Anthropology at
the University of California, Santa Cruz. Moving from student to staff, Susan
spent many years in an administrative position at the university before coming to Renee’s
Garden. She loves talking to people of all backgrounds. She continues to explore the
parks, beaches and wild lands nearby with her family and friends. When
getting away, she and her husband Tom, like to hike, bike, and kayak, exploring
the parklands of the West. At home, she tries to use as many native plants
as possible, planting on that border between development and natural areas where
her grandchildren can explore, catching a glimpse of a variety of wildlife and
local birds of our coastal hills.
Susan’s goal is to continue learning about horticulture and
gardening from Renee and the entire staff, while assisting home gardeners
with good customer service |
