About Karen

Karen Kvenvold Bailey

Karen graduated from San Jose State with a B.S. in Graphic design and has been painting for over 30 years. In her first career as a biological illustrator, her work was published in numerous biology texts and professional journals. In the late 1980's, Karen turned her attention to fine art and plein-air painting. In recent years, she has been combining oil paintings with digital photography to create mixed media paintings.  She brings her considerable talents to Renee's Garden as our trial garden /web photographer, which enables her to incorporate her artistic aesthetic into her photographic style.

Karen and her husband Bob have enjoyed gardening for many years and always have plenty of tomatoes to share. She also shares a love of horses with Renee, and they often ride their 30+ yr. old horses together on the trails. Four years ago, Bob made his first ukulele for Karen and last year she started to play the banjo. Karen's latest passion is getting together with friends to make music a few evenings every week.
